"Jobin Kuruvilla, an experienced JIRA consultant and plugin developer, set out on the ambitious task to write a detailed and thorough book about JIRA plugin development. The result? A well crafted 450+ page book that starts by introducing the reader to Atlassian’s plugin framework and ends with useful recipes usually gained only by weathered experience. It’s a great read for Atlassian plugin developers at all levels." "I felt compelled to write a review of this book because I think it deserves it, it's a must-have for a JIRA plugin programmer. Before writing this, I thought I'd write a more in-depth review. Surprisingly, I discovered that enumerating each and every subject this book covers was not necessary: it's a homogeneous, extensive and well organized book.

Jira is such a complex program that even dedicated Jira Administrators can easily get overwhelmed with options and possible add-ons. It would be great to have a one stop guide to use as a reference when confronted with new questions that you do not have an immediate answer for.

While JIRA has many useful features, there are always functions users want that are not in the base system. Customizing fields, functions, workflows, and plugins allow those needs to be met.

Complex working practices require complex solutions. While JIRA, out-of-the-box and with all the available plugins and customizations it allows, caters for the bulk of these, there will always be a need for some business-specific functionality that can only be done in-house. Having an easy-to-understand, skill-building and -enhancing book to enable a company to take the jump from 'consumer' of JIRA to 'developer' would be a big advantage.

Looking forward to the book. It should help in mastering JIRA, creating a better environment for the users, and making all of us (dev, QA, project managers, admins, etc) proficient at what we do.

I NEED THIS BOOK! Why? # 1, I love to cook! # 2, I love JIRA! # 3, I just purchased JIRA Jr for my lead engineers with children & # 4, sounds like a step-by-step guide to getting the MOST & BEST out of JIRA. As a JIRA user since v2.x, I've never seen nor heard of a book like this one. The reviews sound great. I want it.

Customizing JIRA is a must in a software development company when there are several work methods. JIRA is a good platform, and if you aim to fulfill the users needs, you'll get familiar with groovy, .vm templates and will create a basic listener.

Jira - as it is delivered - has not all the features we need. We started writing our own plugins or using other's plugins some years ago. I hope to get a book, showing me the possibilities we have with plugins made especially for Jira 5. Especially custom fields are a little problem for me.

As a product owner and subject matter expert of a JIRA instance supporting over 4000 users, 200 projects, and over 400k issues, most of my day is spent talking to adopters on customizations or searching for custom solutions to resolve a pain point for 1 of my teams. How awesome would it be to grab the cookbook and look it up. The things I could accomplish. :)

At the first glance, i thought Jira is a tool dedicated to the application development. But in fact, with the possibility to customize field, workflow, add gadget and so one, it is a very powerful tool that fit in almost all context.

We "had" to build a custom plugin to meet our development team's needs. Before embarking on another project like that, this book will be a must read.

I would love to be able to learn more about customising and extending JIRA so that I can help the company get more out of it. If that means developing custom code and this book would help me with that, then that is just the icing on the cake!

The extensions to the querying functionality in jql-tricks have been really useful to me in constructing the agile views of issues that I want. I'm inclined to see what else these gugs have to offer in this book!

I love Jira's extensibility. We've created some amazing apps in it and having even more technical knowledge would make it an even greater asset.
